SAN ANTONIO BAGPIPER & TEACHER

Evan began learning to play the Scottish Highland pipes at the age of six after moving to San Antonio, Texas, in 1998.  His lessons began with the Black Bexar Pipe Band and soon moved to private lessons with Pipe Major Bill Jones of New Braunfels, Texas.  His first award was presented at the ’98 Salado Highland Games when he received the most promising piper trophy.    Evan spent 8 years with Black Bexar learning the art of band playing and quickly excelled.  After the time with the band, Evan took time off from band play to focus on his solo performance and competition.  He has won numerous awards and recognition for his excellence.  In 2007, Evan began passing along his knowledge to others.  A home school pipe band was formed and he is the Pipe Major for the group.  Evan teaches beginning piping students in a group setting and also in private lessons.

Evan has performed for such notable people as: Ambassador Alan Keyes, Judge Roy Moore, H.K. Eggerton (following his march across Dixie in 2003 Evan and several others played Dixie, as HK entered the grounds of the State Capital complex) , U.S. Congressman Charles A. Gonzalez and others.  He has marched in several parades to include the Battle of Flowers Parade, the Northwoods Community Assoc, and the 4th of July parade in New Braunfels.  He has performed at several festivals, high school graduations, naturalization ceremonies and football games.  Evan has also played at churches, funerals and weddings on a national level.
